BEST AMERICAN MYSTERY STORIES 2017

The new edition of THE BEST AMERICAN MYSTERY STORIES, containing my short story "Night Run," is out now. Edited by John Sandford and the legendary Otto Penzler, the collection includes 20 stories published in 2016, chosen from a field of more than two thousand. "Night Run," my tribute of sorts to the great Richard Matheson, was originally published in the anthology THE HIGHWAY KIND, expertly edited by Patrick Millikin, a long-time bookseller at Poisoned Pen Bookstore in Scottsdale, Ariz., and published by Mulholland Books. That collection, which also features stories by Diana Gabaldon, George Pelecanos, Michael Connelly, Joe Lansdale, Ace Atkins, James Sallis and many others, is still available. It also includes Willy Vlautin's sublime "The Kill Switch," one of the best short stories I've read in a long time.
A limited number of copies of BEST AMERICAN MYSTERY STORIES signed by Otto and myself are available through The Mysterious Bookshop in NYC, either at the store or through their site. You can order copies here, while they last.
